As part of the SVETOVID-19 project, which was financed by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, the first workshop entitled "DNA - structure, function and extraction" was held in the premises of the Institute of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Kragujevac. Thirteen PhD students from the Faculty of Medical Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the University of Kragujevac participated in the workshop. Prof. Dr. Danijela Todorović opened the meeting and held an introductory lecture on "Genetic and epigenetic information in the cell". Ass Dr. Katarina Vitošević presented methods of DNA isolation in a lecture entitled "Evaluation of methods for isolating DNA molecules". In the practical part of the workshop, doctoral students had the opportunity to learn about the procedures of the two most commonly applied methods for DNA isolation. In addition to the topics covered in this workshop, PhD students and others present were also informed about other activities and goals of the project, as well as about the possibilities of involving young collaborators in the project activities.
